Licence & Test Options
Motorcycle Licence Options
Your licence options depend on your age and the training you undertake.
A1 Licence (Ages 17-21)
Obtained by passing a practical test on a 75cc–125cc motorcycle. This permanently restricts riders to machines of 125cc or below.
A Licence (Ages 17-21)
Passed on a motorcycle between 120cc and 125cc capable of at least 62.5mph. This restricts riders to motorcycles of no more than 33bhp for two years, after which they can ride any size machine.
Direct Access (Ages 21+)
Passed on a motorcycle exceeding 46.6bhp. This grants immediate, unrestricted access to all motorcycle power levels.
Accelerated Access
Riders who turn 21 during their two-year A Licence restriction can take a further test to gain an unrestricted licence early.
