CBT Training (7 Days a Week)
By law, everyone wishing to ride a moped or motorcycle must complete a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course. It normally takes a day to complete and is usually taken on a 125cc machine. Upon meeting the required standard, you will be issued a CBT Certificate of Completion (Form DL196), valid for two years.
Key Benefits
Who It's For
Anyone wishing to ride a moped (age 16+) or motorcycle up to 125cc (age 17+). The only exception is for full car licence holders who passed their test before 1999 and only wish to ride up to 50cc.
Course Structure
The course begins with a talk about motorcycle clothing and equipment, followed by an introduction to the machine controls and basic maintenance. You will practice simple manoeuvres including clutch control, balance, braking, slow riding, and safe pulling away. Once instructors are satisfied with your progress, you will be taken on the road for a minimum of two hours supervised riding.
